The Client

O'Donnell Impact Windows & Storm Protection is one of the most recognized impact window contractors on Florida's Treasure Coast. CEO Bob Thornton is a familiar face and voice across the region — a consistent presence in TV and radio advertising and an active figure in the local business community. The brand carries real authority in a competitive market.

The Challenge

For years, Bob had been purchasing ad space inside a shared hurricane preparedness brochure — one of many companies competing for attention within the same publication. He was paying a significant amount for visibility that he had to share with competitors, with limited control over how his brand was represented and little room to stand out.

Bob recognized an opportunity: instead of buying a small piece of someone else's publication, why not own the whole thing?

The Solution

Inkling Creative designed a fully branded hurricane preparedness booklet for O'Donnell Impact Windows — a practical, high-value resource that homeowners would actually want to keep and use. The booklet provides genuine storm preparedness information while positioning O'Donnell as the trusted local authority on impact protection.

The investment was only slightly more than what Bob had been spending on a single shared ad — but the difference in presence and perceived authority was dramatic. Rather than appearing as one of a dozen advertisers, O'Donnell Impact Windows became the voice and authority behind the entire publication.

The Results

O'Donnell Impact Windows now reorders 1,000+ copies at a time, distributing them across their two Treasure Coast showrooms. Customers have walked in specifically asking for the booklet by name — using it as a reference tool and a reason to engage with the brand in person.

What began as a single design project grew into something much larger, with new pieces following naturally from the trust built in that first collaboration.

Lauren at Inkling really took the time to learn about our company before creating our products so they were very focused on our overall mission and branding. The products we ordered were created efficiently and professionally and the one item we had designed turned into 2, which turned into 3, which turned into an ongoing relationship. Sometimes you need an expert opinion on font, colors, branding, aesthetics, paper type to really bring your message home and Lauren's expertise helped us tremendously. We absolutely recommend Lauren and Inkling.

The Takeaway

When a brand already has strong name recognition, the right print piece doesn't just advertise — it establishes authority. This project is a clear example of how a well-designed, purposeful publication can outperform traditional ad placement at a comparable cost, with far greater impact and longevity. And when the work is rooted in a genuine understanding of the client's brand, one project often becomes many.
