“Hey! Jo has one of those shirts!”
With an excited finger pointed at my chest, I was greeted by my nephew as I meandered into my brother and sister-in-law’s house on a warm summer afternoon.
You see, I was wearing my wave t-shirt. Earlier in 2020, we did a fundraiser for our adoption with that same design for children’s rash guards. It just so happened that my niece got a pink one. (My nephew himself got a blue one, like the shirt I was wearing…but I guess he didn’t remember that part.)
Now this wave shirt is not a brand per se, but this little story teaches us some powerful lessons about branding.
You see, our brains naturally recognize and create patterns. So when my nephew saw the wave on my niece’s rash guard, he remembered and connected it with the wave on my own.
This is what visual brand consistency does for your company.
When a brand is consistent, it begins establishing a pattern that people recognize and remember. (I’m sure no one but me recognizes the Starbucks or the Target logo…)
Businesses with strong and consistent brand can expect to see revenue increase by up to 33% (M2Design)!
Brand consistency goes further than just the logo. Visual brand consistency extends to how your brand represents itself in all elements of your visual brand identity and how you communicate.
And to make your company memorable, you must begin with brand consistency. A memorable brand is a consistent brand.
