How to Make Your
Company Memorable

How important is it for you to be remembered?

If you're not remembered, you're...forgotten. Not good.

As a TBI survivor, memory is very important to me (and it should be to you). As you can tell, I was thinking more about how important it is for you, and your company, to be memorable.

I think we can all agree that it's more important than ever for your company to stand out and be memorable, but how exactly?

07 How to Make Company Memorable

That's what I wanted to share: my three step framework for how to make your company memorable because memorable companies change lives and keep customers coming back.

Make Your Company Memorable

Capture Attention

We all understand that knowing your audience is important, right?

And we all know that a successful business needs customers, right?

So how do we attract them? This is where knowing and attracting your audience comes in. You begin by capturing your audience's attention: you understand what styles appeal to them and how they communicate. (This is where comprehensive and successful market research comes in handy.)

The next step is to clarify and communicate your brand’s message in a way that appeals to your audience. You do this in such a way that they feel like you know them—that you've been where they're at.

You attract your audience with both the words you use and how it looks. Both of these steps are reflected in your company’s branding. The way your company presents itself needs to reflect the audience you’re trying to attract.

If these steps are done well, you will have attracted your customers and captured the attention of your audience. (If you hold their attention, even better!)

And, this is an important first step, because customers typically don’t go to company’s that don’t first capture and engage their attention.

So once we capture the attention of the right customers, then what do we do?

Create Solutions

This is what business is all about, isn't it? It's why every business exists. Someone, somewhere had a problem. And either that same someone (or someone else) wanted to solve that problem. A business was born.

In the process of solving that problem, businesses provide value to meet needs, and in turn, they create solutions.

Every company needs to answer the question for their customers, "how is my product/service useful to them? How will it solve their problems?" Companies need to display and promote this answer loud and clear in their messaging.

For example, I saw a problem: poor marketing materials and bad design—designs that not only look bad, they don't communicate effectively. I saw the need for skilled visual communication— a necessity for every company.

Visual communication does many things. It attracts attention, it provides value, and it solves problems. Your marketing materials directly reflect your company and your communication skills.

Are yours done well?

Do your materials accurately reflect your customers' problems? Do they clearly explain the solutions your company provides? Do they plainly tell your customers what they need to do next?

Make sure your marketing materials display your company accurately. Designers,  visual communicators, are trained and they know what they are doing to ensure your company is presented correctly. They know what colors and what elements of design direct viewers' eyes to their intended target. They emphasize what's most important— how your company is useful and provides value..

How is your company useful? The ultimate value any company provides is the solution created to meet a customers’ need.

The ultimate value any company provides is the solution created to meet a customers’ need.

At any point in this stage, give your customers well-designed information products to show what you can do or what you've done, provide social proof, or answer any questions they may have.

This information not only tells customers about your company, it lets them know about the solution that your company provides for them.

But don’t forget, make sure your prospects know how they can get the solution your company provides. Give them a clear call to action. For example, tell them to sign up for the email list, request an estimate, or book a call.

Customers return to companies that solve their problems — companies that are useful to them.

Change Lives

When a business captures the attention of their ideal customers and creates solutions to their problems, they meet their needs and give them an experience. They make an impact. They change lives.

“Changing lives” sounds so dramatic, and you may wonder about it.

You may not think your company is capable of that, but think about it. Something as simple as a quick smile and “hello” might be just what someone needs to keep them off the ledge.

I don’t know what your company does, but it might save someone just enough time to take their kids to school or have that much-needed conversation with their spouse.

Your product or service might be medical equipment or services that literally save lives, or it could save someone’s home, sanity, or financial future.

Whatever your product or service is, all you have to do to change a life is capture the attention of the right people and be the solution to their problem.

If your company does that, it will make itself memorable.

And memorable companies keep customers coming back. Customers want to return to companies that make a positive impact on their lives.

So after you've given your customers a memorable experience, and after you've changed their life, remind them that you still want to help them. Send them an email. Or better yet, send something more substantial. Send some mail.
