A skilled and professional graphic designer communicates a client’s ideas better than the client describes them. And if that’s not enough, below are four more reasons why you should hire a professional graphic designer.

4 Reasons to Hire a Professional Graphic Designer

Professional graphic designers design for a living

This means several things: we are on top of design trends, and we have seen a lot of designs — both good and bad. We know what works, what doesn’t, what’s new, and what is grossly overused. Graphic designers will use their skills and countless hours of experience to make your brand the best.

It saves you time (and money)

Another reason to hire a professional is that designers do this "design thing" for a living, so we're faster. Designers know where to look and how to get inspiration. We have a vast library of inspiration in our heads. We may immediately have direction to design and produce the type of material you're looking for, where you may have to go find it.

Even though you may have good design sense, graphic designers design every day. Every minute you spend designing or figuring something out for yourself is a minute you’re not spending on what you’re good at: the job for which you have been trained, and the job for which you get paid.

Your best interest is their best interest

If you don’t look good, neither does the designer. Designers don’t want to showcase work that they're not proud of in their portfolio.

Designers ultimately listen to a client's requests, but do make suggestions based on what works from background experience. If a client requests changes that a designer sees will not help their cause (from a design perspective), we may even ask the client not to mention our name or company in conjunction with a piece of work. Designers understand that you only have one chance to make a first impression. You want it to be a good one. A design needs to stand out or it risks being passed over.

Professional design makes you look professional

We’ve all seen it. Think back to CEO Sally. She went to an expensive networking function to advertise her high-end financial services with business cards her ten-year old designed. She did not put forward a professional image.

Graphic designers know what looks professional, what doesn’t, and how to make all of a company’s collateral work together. Whether its business cards, brochures, sell sheets, newsletters, or annual reports, a good designer makes resources consistent, cohesive, professional, and suited to your target market.

Designers know that little things like font size, font style, text justification, color, and image placement can make all the difference. For a variety of examples of the above, visit here.

Professional graphic design saves you time, money, and consequently, is one of the best ways to show your business’s professionalism and credibility. Everyone takes a man in a suit more seriously. That’s what professional graphic design does for your business. Not convinced you need graphic design at all? Let me explain why you should consider it.
